ABSTRACT |
The Abdominal Trauma Index(ATI) was designed to stratify patients with penetrating injuries, and has been used to classify patients with blunt trauma. The Injury Severity Score (ISS) was originally designed to stratify victims of blunt trauma, and it has also been used for victims of penetrating trauma. We reviewed 118 patients undergone laparatomy for abdominal trauma at the Sanggye Paik Hospital from August 1989 through August 1994. The patients were analyzed according to ATI and ISS. The morbidity rate of the patients with abdominal trauma was 34.5% in the group the ATI 25 or less and 75% in the group the ATI over 25. The morbidity and mortality rate in the group the ISS 15 or less were 21.3% and 0%, whereas those were 52.6% and 14% in the group the ISS 16 or above. |
